The Clinic

The Body Massage Shop roots started in the automotive world. A love for fixing things and learning how machines work started a lifetime love of learning and growing in knowledge, however, this initial path was quickly interrupted with a burst of ADHD inspiration.

Switching careers to the airline industry and becoming a flight attendant caused a realization that new hires sit around for hours waiting for a chance to go to work. Being unable to sit still, Rose started to massage industry aches and pains on anyone who let her. It turned into a running joke about needing to bring in a massage chair and having a side hustle.

In 2008 the recession forced another career change. Not wanting to go to school for 4 years, Rose decided to go to a 2-year trade school for an associate degree in applied science of massotherapy. With her new degree, she started working in spas and doing chair events, while occasionally traveling to people’s homes.

By 2015, Rose was working in a medical rehab facility specializing on workers compensation and personal injuries.

In 2018, she decided to file paperwork to officially start her Company. When Covid hit, Rose decided patients and her health and safety was her highest priority! The Body Massage Shop supported these priorities and her vision grew to what this business has become today!

Philosophies

At The Body Massage Shop we operate off these philosophies:

Our most important philosophy is we cannot want it more than you.

Our clients get results and feel better because they put in the work to get better, we just assist in the healing process. Listening and asking questions helps to understand the body and what you need to be doing to improve. As our Company grows, so will our referral list for quality doctors, physical therapists, personal trainers, among other professions we feel are able to aid and support in the healing process.

Trust is key to your treatment. The massage therapist is trained in multiple styles and blends them to your needs that day. When the therapist is told “don’t work this or that area of the body”, we now must work harder for sub-quality results.

Our other major philosophy is to not work pass the ‘hurt so good feeling’. If the massage hurts, your body now thinks the therapist is attacking it. This puts you into fight, flight or freeze which does not allow for long-term healing. *

*We will support clients who prefer the ‘no pain no gain’, however, those who wish to have this kind of treatment are required to do Box Breathing during the massage. (This is where you breathe in for 4 seconds and then exhale for 4 seconds. Our primary reason for this is to keep your body out of fight or flight.)  During this massage we do check in more, or require conversation, to make sure that we are not raising the heart rate too much. Audio cues in your voice let us know where your body is falling on the RPE chart.

We encourage that when random memories occur during the massage to talk about them. They tend to be linked to micro-traumas in the body and allow for deeper healing!

Finally, we believe in self-awareness, this is why you will not get a cookie-cutter treatment plan from us. Healing is not the same for everyone, and everyone has different financial situations. Often times medical providers words are taken as gold, and can create a stress pattern just to do what you are told. We often encourage our clients to see how long the results last. If they are not lasting as long as you would like, then you would want to come in sooner. As a general rule in the industry, once every 4-6 weeks for maintenance is recommended.

Staff

Rose Dressler, LMT has a love for learning new things. Being born hearing impaired and on the spectrum, she really understands that everyone’s body and needs are different. Knowing that her best learning style is a tactile approach, Rose puts herself inside her patients' shoes and tries to ‘live’ the same experience(s) as the patient to problem solve why they hurt the way they do. Rose consistently takes CEU class in both topics that relate to her, while also taking courses in topics that push her to the edge of her comfort zone, bringing the best of the massage world to her patients!

When she is not working, she spends her free time with her family, playing video games, reading, traveling and hiking with her dog.
