Chocolate Milk

A common thing people will hear after a massage is to drink plenty of water. Though water is great for the body it is a challenge for many people to increase their water intake. At The Body Massage Shop we encourage our clients to grab a tall glass of chocolate milk post massage. Yes, Chocolate milk! It is ok if it's an alternative milk like almond or oats. Peppermint hot chocolate in the winter is a personal favorite.

Our reasoning behind this is in the athletic world chocolate milk out preforms pickle juice and many post workout drinks. Your muscles just went through a workout weather it was softer work or deep tissue. Chocolate milk has protein, vitamin D, and calcium to help with muscle repairs. Magnesium and potassium help with releasing the muscles. Sodium which is an electrolyte helps to keep the nerves and muscles running smoothly.

*This is what has worked for many of our clients and for us personally. In no way is this medical advice. If you are unsure if you should drink Chocolate Milk post massage, please ask your medical provider. *

Post Lymphatic Massage

For the first 4-6 hours post our lymphatic and contouring cupping massage you should avoid extreme heats or colds. This is to keep your body heat in the dermis layer for maximum results. This includes, but not limited to, shower, bath, pool, hot tub and sauna. Exercising should also be avoided during this time since it brings the body heat to the epidermis layer.

Post Aromatherapy

We suggest waiting at least 2 hours post massage before taking a shower to allow the essential oils to reach their full effects.
